When I create music, I strive to capture fleeting emotions, moments, and visual imagery, transforming them into sound. My process is immersive, involving constant experimentation and refinement. My influences span western classical music, folk, pop, electronic music, and choral traditions.

Laaksonen - Shadows Are Light (Out Now!)
My latest album, Shadows Are Light, is a cinematic pop project blending heartfelt vocals, classical piano and strings with textured synths and glacial beats. The album contrasts atmospheric soundscapes with honest, modern lyrics that explore contemporary themes.

Film music
I’ve collaborated with filmmakers to create scores for various animation projects. In 2020, I composed the music for Marika Maijala’s We Are in the Same Boat, which has since been featured in art exhibitions. In 2021, I scored Lari Tarvainen’s Lights Out and Maijala’s Mermaid Studies. My music enhances the storytelling, adding emotional depth and atmosphere. Watch We Are in the Same Boat below!

Spaces Around Times - piano album
In 2019, I released Spaces Around Times, a collection of instrumental piano pieces drawing from classical music, minimalism, and film scores. Many pieces were composed during a residency in Paris (2016–2017) and were first performed at Cité Internationale des Arts. The album, with its evocative melodies, invites listeners to explore vivid emotions and memories.

Further piano works
I continue to compose piano music, recording on a felted piano in my living room and mixing the tracks myself. In 2020, I launched a project releasing piano pieces under different pseudonyms, which have collectively gained over 1 million streams on Spotify.

Boy With Strings was my earlier solo project, where I experimented with strings, digital effects, layered vocals and electronic production. The music is characterised by looped violins and lyrics touching on themes of time, memories, and nature. I worked with violinists Tommi Asplund and Anni Elonen. The Spaces Between Memories album (2015) and the music video for Moments That Were Not gained recognition through performances in Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Paris.

SONGWRITER & COMPOSER
Alongside my solo projects, I write music for other artists. Notably, I’ve written for Antti Tuisku, one of Finland’s top pop stars, and contributed songs for Eurovision finalist Riikka Timonen, also known for her work with Värttinä and Adiemus. I also write custom songs for private clients and have worked in various genres, including a cappella music and choir arrangements for Nightwish. In co-writing sessions, I often serve as a topliner, focusing on catchy melodies and rich harmonies.
